Hanashi Films is a documentary film production company founded by Hanna Aqvilin and Shiori Ito.
The blend name, Hana|shi means story in Japanese, also symbolises the main backbone of the company - which always strives to tell stories of women and people from minorities, to create debate and celebrate diversity.

PRODUCER / DIRECTOR
Hanna's documentary film "Fay Presto: Queen of Close-up", nominated at BAFTA-Recognzed film festivals, and won prize at NYC Downtown Short Film Festival. She also produced films for NAT Geo, Discovery, Al Jazeera, Netflix and BBC. Hanna's is also a journalist and has been working for Swedish TV and major newspapers.

DIRECTOR / CINEMATOGRAPHER
At the 2018 New York Festivals, Shiori won a silver award for "Lonely Death" (CNA). She is also a journalist, writing for international news outlets e.g BBC, Politico, Al Jazeera, and her book on Japan's sexual violence, Black Box won the Best Journalism Award at FPAJs.

DIRECTOR / EDITOR
Yuta has directed numbers of branded contents, TV shows and music videos in Los Angeles, Tokyo and around the world. He studied directing at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, earning his BA degree.

PRODUCTION MANAGER / PRODUCER
Yoshie oversees the productions in Japan. She is also managing any media requests or other enquires in relation to Shiori Ito.
